Pagira is designed with privacy at its core. The app does not collect, store, or share any personal data, and prestApps operates no servers. Your files stay on your device or in your iCloud Drive; your reading data stays on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account.
Pagira does not collect any personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no telemetry. Nothing about how you use the app is ever transmitted.
Pagira only accesses the HTML sites, files, PDFs, books, and comics that you explicitly open. These are read and rendered locally on your device and are never uploaded to any server.
Pagira never uses the camera, the microphone, your location, the motion sensors or speech recognition on its own. A web page you open in Pagira can ask for them through standard web features, for example a local app that records audio. iOS then asks for your permission first, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings › Pagira. What the page records stays on your device: Pagira receives none of it and sends nothing anywhere.
To render local websites correctly, Pagira serves their files through a local web server bound to the loopback address (http://127.0.0.1). This server is only reachable from within your device and is never exposed to the network or the internet.
Full text search, text recognition on scanned PDFs and questions asked in everyday language all run entirely on your device. The search index and the recognised text are stored locally, alongside your documents, and are never transmitted. Neither your keywords, nor your questions, nor the content of your documents leaves the device: these features call no server and work with no connection. On compatible devices, Apple Intelligence helps to better understand a question; that processing also takes place on the device.
If you open content stored in iCloud Drive, the files are managed by Apple's iCloud service under your own Apple account. Pagira streams or downloads those files on your behalf but does not operate any servers of its own and does not receive a copy of your data.
So that your reading follows you from one device to another, Pagira saves the following in the private CloudKit database of your own iCloud account:
This data is stored by Apple under your Apple account and is visible only to your devices: prestApps has no access to it. The content of your files is never copied there. Without an iCloud account, nothing is synced and everything stays on the device.
A password-protected Word or PDF document is decrypted in memory only. The password is not kept, and the content of the document is never added to the search index, even once it is open. Its highlights and notes are kept and synced like those of other documents.
In-app purchases (unlocking Pagira, and tips) are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store; Pagira receives no payment information and only reads your purchase status (entitlement) via StoreKit to unlock the app.
Pagira does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. Aside from loading the content you choose to open and the iCloud sync described above, the app makes no network requests of its own.
Information such as your recent items, history, favorites, reading positions, highlights and notes, offline downloads, search index, and app preferences is saved locally on your device using standard system mechanisms. Only the items listed under “iCloud sync” are also copied to your iCloud account. It is never shared and stays under your control.
Since Pagira does not collect any data, it is safe for users of all ages.
