Some documents are not a single file: they are an HTML folder, with pages that link to each other, images and a layout. On a computer a double click is enough. On iPhone and iPad, nothing opens properly. Pagira is built for those documents. Typical uses:

• Students and teachers - Courses exported from Moodle or Blackboard, lecture notes, past papers, e-learning modules. One folder per subject, opening exactly as it was designed, on the train or in a lecture hall with no signal.
• Workplace training - SCORM modules, onboarding paths, safety and quality training. An e-learning module is an HTML folder with an entry page: Pagira opens it as is, with no platform and no account.
• Healthcare and medical staff - Ward protocols, best-practice guidelines, recommendations, continuing education material. Documents you read at the bedside or in the on-call room, where the hospital network stops.
• Mechanics and maintenance - Automotive service manuals, manufacturer procedures, wiring diagrams, parts catalogues. Workshop documentation almost always arrives as a folder with its own tree: Pagira keeps it navigable, on the iPad sitting on the bench.
• Aviation, marine and transport - Flight manuals, checklists, manufacturer documentation, ship's papers. The iPad is already the reference tool on board, the documentation still has to open in full and with no signal.
• Technical and industrial documentation - Operating instructions, maintenance manuals, product sheets, supplier catalogues. Hundreds of pages linked together, readable on site or at a customer's, with no connection.
• Law, standards and compliance - Statutes and articles of law, collective agreements, ISO and national standards, case law. Corpora distributed to be read offline, with their cross-references actually working.
• Finance and management - Annual reports, audit reports, board packs, minutes exported from an intranet. Received by email or dropped in iCloud, opened in two taps before the meeting.

The common thread: a folder, pages that answer each other, and the wish to read it on a comfortable screen without depending on the network. Whether it is a ten-thousand-page corpus or an appliance manual downloaded the day before.

Pagira opens three things:

• A full local website folder - it shows the whole site with all its pages, images and styles.
• A single web page, when that's all you have.
• PDF documents, in a clean, built-in reader.

You can open them from the Files app, from iCloud Drive, or from another app's share sheet with "Open with Pagira".

Quick Look only previews a single file on its own, so its linked images, styles and pages usually break. Pagira opens the whole folder the way a browser would, so the complete site works - layout, images and even its interactive parts.

Open search and type your words. Pagira searches every page and every PDF in the folder at once, not just the document you have open.

• Results are grouped by document, with the number of pages concerned.
• Opening one takes you straight to the right page, your words highlighted, in a web page as in a PDF.
• The search is strict: it returns the pages that contain all the words you typed. It looks for what you typed, nothing else.
• A selector chooses where to search: the whole folder, the current subfolder, or just the document you have open. The document you are reading comes first.

Everything happens on the device, offline, with no account.

Yes. Next to search, a second tab takes a question in everyday language, for example “how do I bleed the brake circuit?”. Pagira brings back the passages that answer it, giving the document, the chapter and the pages.

Pagira does not write an answer. It takes you to the right place and you read the document: that is a deliberate choice, it shows you the page rather than an answer pieced together from several similar procedures.

On recent iPhones and iPads with Apple Intelligence, the question is better understood. Without it, it still works. Either way, everything happens on the device, offline, with no server.

A scanned PDF is only an image: it contains no word to search for. Pagira offers “Recognise text” to read it on the device and make it searchable like any other document.

It is on demand, never automatic, and recognition can continue in the background while the device is plugged in.

On iOS 26, tables are read as tables - a table row stays a row. That is what matters for technical manuals, product sheets and instruction leaflets.

You have a couple of options:

• Drop it into Pagira's folder. Pagira's folder is exposed in the Files app, so you can copy a site into it from a Mac (via Finder) or from Files / iCloud Drive.
• Keep it in iCloud Drive. Open the folder directly from iCloud and Pagira streams the assets on demand - no full download needed up front.

For a website, point Pagira at the folder rather than a single file so every asset and subfolder resolves.

Yes. Items in iCloud Drive stream on demand while you're online. To read without a connection:

• Use Download for offline to keep a permanent copy on the device.
• Or save the page to your reading list, which keeps a complete snapshot.

When you're offline, an offline banner shows which items are still available.

The reading list is a Safari-style side panel where you save the current page or PDF. Each saved item is kept as a complete snapshot (the full page) or a PDF copy, so it stays readable offline. You can filter by read or unread, mark items, and delete them.

Download for offline makes a permanent copy of an item inside the app, also visible in the Files app. The copy is resumable if it's interrupted and non-destructive, so the original stays where it is and the item remains readable without a connection.

If the source has had new files added since, “Update the download” gets them without downloading everything again. Nothing is deleted without confirmation: files that no longer exist at the source are listed for you, and you decide.

Yes. Recent items are remembered, and there's a setting to automatically reopen the last item you were reading when you launch Pagira.
