Getting Started with Eyemesh: Your Complete Guide to 3D Preview on macOS

Eyemesh is a powerful 3D file viewer designed exclusively for macOS. Whether you're a 3D artist, game developer, or architect, Eyemesh makes it effortless to preview, inspect, and export your 3D models right from your Mac.

Installation

Download Eyemesh from the Mac App Store. The app requires macOS 26.0 (Tahoe) or later and an Apple Silicon Mac.

Opening Your First 3D File

You can open 3D files in several ways:

Supported Formats

Eyemesh supports 17 file formats: FBX, GLB, GLTF, OBJ, USDZ, USDA, USDC, USD, PLY, STL, ABC, 3DS, WRL, DAE, DXF, 3MF, and Unity Package.

Tips for Best Results

For models with textures, open the folder containing your 3D files rather than individual files. This gives Eyemesh access to texture files in the same directory, ensuring your models display with all their materials.

Use the Texture Manager (click the texture badge icon) if textures aren't loading automatically — you can manually assign textures or point Eyemesh to the correct folder.
