How to Convert a DXF File to GLB/glTF on Mac

The DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) is an Autodesk CAD format used in architecture, engineering, and industrial design to exchange technical drawings. Converting DXF to GLB/glTF lets you display your 3D models on the web or in real-time applications.

Why Convert DXF to GLB/glTF?

Convert DXF to GLB/glTF with Eyemesh

Step 1 — Open the DXF File

Launch Eyemesh and open your DXF file: drag and drop the file into the window, or use File > Open (Cmd+O). DXF files generally contain pure geometry with no textures.

Step 2 — Check the Model

Inspect your model in the 3D view. Check that textures and materials display correctly. If textures are missing, use the Texture Manager to reassign them manually.

Step 3 — Export to GLB/glTF

Click the export icon in the toolbar, select the GLB or glTF format, choose a save location, and confirm. The file is ready to embed on the web or in a real-time 3D application.

What Is the DXF Format?

DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) is an open format created by Autodesk for exchanging technical drawings between CAD applications. It supports 2D and 3D entities including lines, polylines, 3D faces, and meshes. It is the standard interoperability format between AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, and other design tools.

What Is the GLB/glTF Format?

glTF (GL Transmission Format) is an open Khronos Group format, often called the "JPEG of 3D". Its binary version GLB packages geometry, PBR materials, textures, and animations into a single file. It is the standard format for web 3D (Three.js, Babylon.js, model-viewer) and cross-platform AR/VR experiences.

Download Eyemesh on the Mac App Store and convert your DXF files to GLB/glTF in just a few clicks.
